Runway looks aren’t exclusively made up of fashion-is-art moments. There are plenty of gorgeous hairstyles, nail colours and make-up trends coming down the catwalk – and while the designer clothes aren’t always attainable, the beauty looks are blissfully easy to achieve. The good news is that so many of the trends we saw on 2015 runways are season-less. Get inspired by some of our favourites for the Spring/Summer days.
If you’re bored with blow-drying your hair day in and day out, this trend is your new best friend: textured hair that looks air-dried. An easy way to achieve it is to twist your hair into two sections and clip in the back to set. Once hair was air-dried, he let it loose for barely there, California-surfer-girl-inspired waves.
Out of the water
Slick, wet-looking strands – the kind procured from a quick dip in the ocean or a pre-party shower – have never looked better. It’s an elegant, yet very versatile look, perfect for hot and humid summer days. You can go from lightly gelled to fresh out of the water, and wear it in a bun or a scraped back, low ponytail.
The braid brigade
If there’s one hair look you experiment with this season, make it a braid. A neat braid at the nape of the neck will be your bad hair day cure for 2015. If you are more of a free spirit, a loose fishtail braid is your new go-to. Bohemian and deconstructed braids can turn your basic blaser + jeans look into a statement.
After seasons of bold nail art, there was a return to barely-there nail polish colours, from palest pink to chic nude and flat creams. The perfect nude nail polish can transform your entire look with just a single swipe of the right shade. A fleshy manicure looks crisp, clean and well-groomed, not to mention versatile.
The lip of the season is rich, supersaturated, and soft around the edges. When models weren’t wearing basic lip balm, they were wearing striking shades of classic red or flirty orange-reds. Deep berry lipstick also looks great when diffused around the edges for a sultry, stained effect.
